The teaching is organized in five language sections: French, English, Italian, Dutch and German.
The Primary receives children aged 6 to 10 years for a course of study lasting 5 years. Admission to Primary School takes place in September of the calendar year in which the child reaches the age of 6.
Teaching takes place in the mother tongue/dominant language in one of the five language sections: Anglophone (EN), French (FR), German (DE), Italian (IT), Dutch (NE).
For pupils who do not have their own section (SWALS) there is the possibility to have a course in their mother tongue (5 periods per week) during the school day.
For SWALS, the teaching takes place in the section language in which the student is enrolled. From the first class all the pupils begin the course in second language: English, French or German (chosen by parents).
Beside the education in the section language, our school offers two important or unique subjects: the L2-lessons and the “European Hours”.
From the first year onwards, the children start learning one foreign language (L2-lessons), taught every day by a native speaker. For an Englishspeaking pupil this could be French or German.
By doing this, we strengthen the language competences of our children from the very beginning.
Beside these L2-lessons, the children of our Primary have a special subject: “European Hours”.
During these lessons, children from different sections and different classes come together and they learn in their L2-language more about Europe, European spirit and European identity.
